A British man charged with breaking into 97 computers belonging to NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense and several branches of the U.S. military soon after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is to be extradited to the USA to stand trial, according to reports from the UK this morning. Gary McKinnon lost an appeal in the British High Court to have the extradition order stayed.
In a 41-page ruling Judge Stanley Burnton ruled that extradition was "a lawful and proportionate response to his offending."
An Asperger's Syndrome sufferer, McKinnon may decide to appeal to the UK's House of Lords.
